New Feature: This Day in Wrestling History - September 5th
This is a new feature illustrating what happened on this day in wrestling in years past.
2008: Mickie James appeared on the hit USA Network Show Psych, playing a roller derby girl called Rita "Lethal Weapon" Westwood.
2007: Brian Kendrick & Paul London beat Trevor Murdoch & Lance Cade in Cape Town, South Africa to become the World Tag Team Champions, however they lost the titles 4 days later in Johannesburg and never made it on to TV with the titles.
2006: DX appeared on ECW for the first time. This was during a No-DQ Handicap Match against the then ECW Champion Big Show where they destroyed about half of ECW (and Paul Haymen) at the same time, in the lead up to Unforgiven 2006 with the McMahons & Big Show vs DX in Hell in a Cell.
2005: On Raw, Shawn Michaels was the next in a long line of superstars to take and fail in their attempt to break the Master Lock. This also included a vicious steel chair attack from the Masterpiece. Also, on this night during one of the most real storylines in WWE history, Matt Hardy in no fit shape to compete was destroyed during and after a match with Snitsky, only weeks before he faced Edge in a Steel Cage at Unforgiven.
1991: WCW Clash of the Champions XVI: Fall Brawl took place on this day, including the WCW World Television Champion Steve Austin defeating Tom Zenk, WCW United States Champion Sting defeating Johnny B. Badd & The Enforcers (Arn Anderson and Larry Zbyszko) defeating Rick Steiner and Bill Kazmaier to win the vacant WCW World Tag Team Championship in the Main Event.
1990: NWA Clash of the Champions XII: Mountain Madness/Fall Brawl '90 took place at the Asheville Civic Center in Asheville, North Carolina. This included NWA World Heavyweight Champion Sting defeated The Black Scorpion. After the match, Sting attempted to unmask the Black Scorpion, tearing away his black mask only to reveal a red mask underneath, The Scorpion quickly escaped when The "real" Black Scorpion appeared on the entrance ramp. Although he was never truly unmasked, this version of The Black Scorpion was indeed Al Perez. On this night NWA United States Champion Lex Luger defeated Ric Flair after Stan Hansen interfered and got Flair disqualified.
