Backlash My Arse!

Tonight is the 11th time "Backlash" has been used as a PPV and probably will be the worst ever. I'll start with the Undercard will I? Well I can't because it consists of the Great Khali and Santino's gay love fest (and there isn't Ron Simmons to say "DAMN!" anymore). It might be comedy, but I wouldn't pay to watch that (but I don't need to, cause it's free on Sky Sports in the UK tonight), put it on 15 minutes into ECW not the PPV. Since WWE when back to all tri-branded PPVs at Backlash 2007, it should mean that they have enough for a PPV every time, well, the last year they've show that they can't do it.

The One match that would have worked and would have actually fitted the PPV's title "Backlash", would have been The Miz vs John Morrison, if they have actually got some TV time, but Morrison did a good Dirt Sheet whilst he took dig at The Miz and could have been a good lead up to a match. But to be honest, most of the rest of the card might make up for the disappointment, or the sick feeling after seeing an Indian and an Italian drag up lock up. The Last Man Standing Match should be good, but the kinda got the "end of the feud" thing out of the blue and where did the simulation that it's Edge's last chance come from??? The tag match might also be alright as well, only as long as Randy Orton & Legacy win. Because I don't want to see anymore of Shane and Batista tagging together and main eventing Smackdown (strange for Raw superstars, isn't it, but don't worry they can just get Michael Cole to say that it will be back to normal after Backlash). I also hope that Steamboat has a great match as well, he looked in great shape at WrestleMania and against Jericho they could have a good match, and more than your average legends match. And thanks to websites like this, the "I Quit" match, which will be a good match (with all the emotion that it needs and the high risk moves that this match needs), could already be over with out it happening. Kane/Punk, well blah blah blah, the top of the ladder, blah blah blah. And Christian should win the ECW Championship, unless Vince still has a problem with that and thinks that he is a mid-carder, oh sorry, forgot that ECW is SHIT at the moment. Anyway, WWE hasn't exactly packed it in for tonight where they could have, because they haven't exactly planned it out after WrestleMania and they WILL be worse off after tonight, if you believe dirt sheet websites.

BREAKING NEWS: Jeff Hardy On His Way Out

Even though WWE is currently doing everything they can to try and sign Jeff Hardy to a new deal, as his current contract will be expiring in a few months, but now he has handed his notice into the WWE. Over the last few weeks Jeff Hardy has turned down all attempts at a contract extension and new full-fledged brand new deal. WWE is so hell-bent on signing him to a new deal that they are offering him a 1-year extension to lock him in for just one more year. The fact that Jeff Hardy has not yet re-signed, WWE has made the creative decision to make his feud with Matt Hardy go in Matt’s favor and rush through it. This is also one of the reasons why Matt was moved to the RAW brand. So far Hardy has turned down everything they’ve thrown at him, and he’s said to be looking at his options outside of the wrestling business. He’s not necessarily looking at TNA, but rather looking at taking some time off from the road to enjoy life and not have anything to do with WWE. His current contract is said to expire in the next 2 to 4 months. It's being said that he is very burned out and looking to do some other things outside of wrestling, so there is a very good possibility that he won't be renewing his contract when it comes due this summer. This could explain his losses to his brother in recent weeks. And this development means that the outcome of this Sunday's "I Quit" match is obviously going to go the way of Matt.

Running Dry?

With nine days to go until this year's Backlash PPV, I and (I guess) WWE Officials are worried about how many matches will be on the PPV. After tonight's episode of Smackdown there will be 4 matches on the card, and to be honest, I don't see that many opportunities for matches. Unless you slap on a diva tag team match or maybe, after completely splitting them, have Miz vs Morrison, or something :S.

You see what the problem is. Thanks, in part, to the draft, were was 3 hours of TV time that used 10 minutes at the end to build some momentum for a feud. But even after WrestleMania (without the draft), the outlook wasn't good. Firstly, Undertaker and Shawn Michaels can't do more from their match at WM25. Big Show has been dumped on the heap after his interlude with the World Heavyweight Championship.

But, the Hardys have gone one bit further, you'll just have to watch Smackdown tonight to hear more. Chris Jericho can't follow up from his Legends match. Rey Mysterio obviously can't go further with JBL, and now he's back on Smackdown, it's too late to make a real match for the PPV (oh, sounds like the way they put his match together at WM25), the same is true with MVP, unless they have a useless #1 Contenders Battle Royal or something.

The Divas are... well... there really is no point of trying to make a half decent match for divas on TV, without the title, let alone on a PPV and after the Miss WrestleMania Load of Shit Battle Royal and the draft, we will not see anything of the divas. And thanks to Miz and Morrison splitting, the Unified Tag Team Champions will not have any trouble come next Sunday.

The matches on the card now (maybe except the ECW Championship Match) are all the storylines that WWE have at the moment and with the long Summer run coming, I'm sure Vince is dreading having the draft before any PPV matches were clear. At least last year, it was the Monday before Night of Championship, which you knew what Matches would be on the card.

WWE Running Dry? I think so, they better act fast.

Quick note on the draft

ECW was screwed in the recent draft, hopefully it will pick up in the supplement draft. Punk to pick up a title at Backlash assuming Edge loses. Swagger did well against Cena proving he is a hot prospect. The Bromance is over and the Miz and Morrison are split (for now) hopefully in the meantime The Miz could pick up the US title. Let's see what will happen on Wednesday!!!
