Oh how the mighty have fallen. Or should it be, It’s not who you are but who you know? Either way, this is an interesting affair, in and out of the ring. Of course people of the internet have put the rocketing of Sheamus to the top of the company down to Triple H; that might be true or not, oh I forget he’s the son-in-law. Sheamus is in my view a worthy opponent for The Game. It’s just interesting that The Celtic Warrior is the lowest profile match the King of Kings has been in for ages, lets count the ways:

And Then further you go back from this he drops down a bit, but the point remains (and to be perfectly honest I didn’t expect that much to come of it).

This is his first truly low-ish key match since Wrestlemania XV when he faced Kane (5th to Last Match). So Please Savour this moment... And It’s Over. I’m not doubting the match at all, I hope we see a master class from the Game, because no matter how much you ridicule him and call him boring, he knows how to deliver and if the rumours are true, he is the hardest working wrestler out there (probably second to John Cena).

Then we have Sheamus, debuting on the grandest stage of them all tonight. Who is different, it is safe to say we’ve never seen anyone like him in WWE before. Is this good? Yes. And will this be a good match tonight? Yes! And even looking back on the build-up to this match, it has actually been better than I first thought.
Strangely, even though HHH would hate it, I would be looking out for an Irish hand to be held high at the end of the match, but hey, what do I know?

Also at WWE Bragging Rights we saw the 7-on-7 Raw vs Smackdown Match. Earlier in the night DX gave a little pep-talk to the Raw Team. Triple H: Guys gather round, it's Raw 1, Smackdown 1, the stakes have been upped. We cannot lose this match tonight, so what we... Jack Swagger: Do we really need this little rah rah speech? I mean the fact is, I'm on the team, therefore it's better, therefore, you shouldn't worry so much. Shawn Michaels: Look! If it were only that simple Swagger. You have all the athletic ability in the world, but you know what? You have no-ones' respect, and it's respect that is going to carry this team. Back me up on this Hunter. HHH: Right, no-one respects you. The thing is individually, the team shouldn't even be able to get along. I mean, let's face facts, we've been making fun out of Mark Henry ever since that time he nearly had a baby with May Young. Mark Henry: Man that was a long time ago, nobodies still thinking about that, I mean you're not still picking on me. HHH: No and even if we were, thats still not the most important thing at this time. Listen we have stuffed Vince McMahon's head up Big Show's naked butt. We beat Cody Rhodes so badly that he had to be carried away on a stretcher. And more importantly, we exposed this man as a phony Jamaican. Kofi Kingston: Woah, woah, I told you guys that the only reason I did that was because I was paying tribute to the Jamaican heritage. HBK: Stop, Stop! That's not important, the fact is Swagger, nobody on this team really likes Hunter and myself, yeah it's true, but they do respect us and so will you. Now, if you don't want to be a part of this team you can walk out right now and quiet frankly I'll replace you with the first person I see... (Hornswoggle comes in wearing DX gear)... OK maybe not the first person... (Horny does the DX chop) HHH: Take that stuff off and wash your face... Same Old, Same Old

Fair Enough, the WWE Championship match at Night of Champions was a good, solid match that went over 20 minutes that did what you wanted from a "B" PPV Championship Match and you could say that it was better than their match at Wrestlemania 24, but it's the same old, same old. There are a number of names that have been around long enough to step up to a major main event slot and have proven time and time again they can take the competition, and don't have a Jeff Hardy like risk about putting them in the big time. The fact that this match is the same old match is highlighted by the face that the John Cena-Randy Orton match at Summerslam will be the 25th time in the last 5 years that there has been a combination of Orton-HHH-Cena.

Even though Dolph Ziggler has been back on the main roster for only a little while, they have got the trust in him to put him in big time match with a veteran like Rey Mysterio, where he didn't disappoint. Dolph Ziggler's character is really developing and as JR would say he's getting a real "mean streak". Personally, I think he's watchable, he's a new star who isn't boring and is totally different to the "Spirit Squad" stuff, where I can't even remember who he was, and that was when I first started watching WWE.

There has been news about Evan Bourne being left out of the card on Raw, even though he was meant to be set up to feud with The Brian Kendrick after a solid match at a house show two weeks ago. I'm sorry but this is where WWE is going wrong, he should have been in the US title match at Night of Champions, erm remember that Jack Swagger has been in the company less time than Evan (but I guess that they took the risk with him, by giving him the ECW "gold" which paid off). He's exciting and has shown that he's not just a thrill-factor, that he can have big time matches week in, week out. He's shown perfect for the United States scene, and if not that, have him really feud with Kendrick (and give them some time). Kendrick is the perfect size for him and is very athletic but because he made the wrong decisions he hasn't been able to show that off.

Monday Night Thoughts/Tuesday Morning Reactions

Lets be honest, this was a very strange and indifferent episode of Monday Night Raw. First off the best wrestlers tonight were the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions "Team Ego" Chris Jericho & Edge, with a great (but cut short) promo before their title defense, which was a fantastic match where all four performers work perfectly with each other.

I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, lets start at the start with Vince McMahon and his continuing heel turn, he's not giving away a commercial-free Raw or a ticket refund because WWE can't afford it and it creates easy heat. I heard something about a 15 man trade for about 2 seconds, but since that had already slightly leaked onto the net, there was no worries. Then he introduced the guest host not the GM, Batista! Ohhhhhh! I don't give a s**t! No no, I'm being harsh, he gave us a 4-man tournament and a 3-on-Randy Orton Gauntlet Match (which Batista did really well not to tell us that it was going to be 3 new Raw superstars). Tournament Cena-Miz & HHH-MVP, well I wonder how that's gonna turn out.

First match tonight, Triple H vs MVP. It was obvious which way the match was going to go, but this was a rubbish match to start Raw, it didn't even go over an ad break. The finish was rubbish, too predictable! MVP goes for the playmaker, I knew that HHH would get out of it then s**t all over one of the best young competitors in WWE with the Pedigree (which is the most boring and over use finisher EVER!). Will Triple H ever lose against someone like MVP. And can he please leave Randy Orton alone, how much more can they do between these two, Randy is great, HHH is a douche! They tried to re-vamp this feud in the Road to WrestleMania, considering they had a long summer run last year, ending quicker than WWE would have wanted when Hunter broke Randy's collar bone. So, for the rest of the first hour I was pissed off about how Triple H shat on MVP, why?

Next up was the Unified WWE Tag Team Championship Match, already talked about this, loved it all. Okay, at the time of writing, I hadn't watched the whole of "The Bash" PPV so didn't see all the Cena-Miz Match but I heard that it was crap and didn't live up to any of the hype. On Raw they replayed the recap promo from the night before and I think that it must have been longer than the actually match on Sunday.

This match, which was the second in the Night of Champions #1 Contenders Tournament was good and was a solid match and they should have had a match of that caliber at the PPV, it's called a Pay-Per-View for a reason! I enjoyed this match when I got into it and knew that it wouldn't be a straight squash (and why the f**k would it be!). Except for the very end, "Moves of Doom" and Short tap to shit hold, I like this match considering it was unfortunately obvious the outcome.

I'm really liking the Miz, he's good in and out (theoretically) of the ring, even Chris Jericho, master of the heel, said about Miz practicing his promos backstage on Sunday: "In the pretape room inside re Arco arena watching Miz stumble and mumble his way through humane society promos. Top entertainment!".

Haven't heard of a Women's Fatal-Four Way before yesterday night, not bad, but don't they have a better heel than Rosa Mendes. Alright match, but when they where on the outside trying to allow others to fight in the ring, they looked like right idiots. One thing, near the end of the match, Beth Phoenix was dropped off the apron and it looked like she really smashed her head on the ring steps, that look and sounded too real, if it was, Michael Cole said that Maryse was laughing at that point, evil bitch, haha.

Here comes the Big Show, where is he going with any storyline right now, what, is he going to get a United States Championship match at Night of Champions, shut up. Double countout, could you really see a non-Big Show win against Kofi being anything but a countout or DQ, but hey a double countout is the same sorta stuff. Show then looked like a douche by storming out, doing nothing and the camera following him all the way, couldn't they have just gone to a break earlier. Silly match.

The Main Event was a 3-on-1 Gauntlet Match with the WWE Champion Randy Orton facing off against 3 new performers that have been "traded" to Raw. First up Evan Bourne, yeah! That's good, and strangely I didn't know how much of a size difference the was going to be between Evan and Randy, Evan looked like a child with his child-like head. He did well in the short time but lost from a massive top rope RKO after Orton stopped the Shooting Star Press, lost. Up next, again from ECW, Jack Swagger! YES! I'm loving this, he showed in april at the Draft show against John Cena how he can hold his own against the big boys in WWE. His future is bright. And finally, Mark Henry, who got a great reaction? What? Does everyone in the arena remember who this is, but actually he played it as a babyface, this is the only way I think I'm going to be able to enjoy Mark Henry, but I think I'm really going to enjoy face Mark Henry. I started to remember Sexual Chocolate, it won't be like that, but he's smiling and soaking up the pop from the crowd, who have been very good all night. But the end was very lackluster, I was thinking "Oh, Is that it? I guess so... Erm, Yeay!"

It was alright and it'll be interesting to see how the new superstars will slot in, is Jack Swagger the new Legacy member, Randy was rather surprised at Jack's actions and count-out (on the ring apron). I think I'm looking forward to next week, Ted DiBiase Sn. as Guess Host and HHH-Cena for WWE Title shot at Night of Champions (btw its so obvious its going to be a triple threat, because they've done Orton-HHH, too much and they will not let either of their biggest faces be beat like they beat Miz & MVP), YEAH?

Tonight on the WWE 3-FOR-ALL

Tonight at 8/7 CT (1am BST), The 3-for-all, with 4 massive title matches from all 3 brands. From ECW, The New ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer goes up against former champ Christian, the "gold" on the line. From Smackdown, a Triple Threat for the World Heavyweight Championship, the new champ CM Punk defends against Jeff Hardy and Edge. The vacant WWE Championship will be put on the line in a Fatal-Four Way between the Big Show, John Cena, Randy Orton and the returning Triple H. Also, Chris Jericho will put his newly won Intercontinental Championship on the line against Rey Mysterio. With Former Raw GM Vickie Guerrero quitting last week Vince McMahon is back to announce Raw's new GM! And So make sure you tune in for 3 hours of WWE at its very best!

Wrestling Quote #16: As Exiciting as a Coma and last longer than a Recession

Jim Cornette has a feature on his official website, www.JimCornette.com, where fans can ask him his take on any subject. He admits to being "politically incorrect." Anyway, when asked who he feels is the most overrated wrestler of the past and today, he feels overrated is not the correct term, instead opting for "overpushed." Cornette wrote:

"The whole idea of promoting wrestling is to make the fans think a wrestler is better than he is, so to me, overrated is not the term. OverPUSHED is a different story. Who has been pushed on a major league basis way more than their talent or attitude should have dictated? One has to look no further than the mass hypnosis Vince McMahon worked in getting the Ultimate Warrior over. A body with no substance, Warrior was stunningly bad when he entered the business, and never got much better. His work sucked, he was dangerous, never tried to get better, he couldn't cut a coherent promo, he had a superstar attitude, he was a prick to many of his fellow talents, and he was pushed solely because of Vince's fascination with steroided-up male bodies. He had a 3 or 4 year run before both his bad attitude and the public seeing through him coincided, and a 6 week nostalgia run 4 or 5 years later. The only legacy he left was that he made a lot of money undeservedly and had really bad matches with some really good workers.

On the female side, look to the female version of Warrior, Sable, and pretty much repeat the above paragraph. Couldn't talk, no emotion, couldn't work and wouldn't try to learn, star attitude (she did hide it well toward those in power--for awhile), and was pushed only because of her ability to pick a good plastic surgeon and Vince's apparent sexual frustrations. I've seen hotter ice sculptures. Killed her husband's career by powerbombing him on TV and no guys would sell for him (or in Steve Austin's case, even WORK with him) after that.

For the present, let's go with Hunter Hearst Helmsley-McMahon. Actually, he's a very good worker and studies the business. His promos are usually as exciting as a coma and last longer than this recession, but he has good matches. Problem is, as hard as he's been crammed down people's throats for the past 10 years, he should have surpassed Hogan, Austin, and Rock, but HHH is what is called in the business "the guy that works with the guy that draws money." He should be in there to have a good match and put the star over. Actually, he should have been fired in 1996 when he s**t on the entire sport with the infamous "curtain call" at MSG, but Vince, the guy with "balls of steel", let HHH piss in his face and not only didn't do anything about it, but let him marry his daughter! And a sledgehammer? Jesus Christ, I wish he'd hit me in the head with it before he starts talking on TV. HHH will be the top guy in the WWE until he looks like Dick the Bruiser in his final days working an Indiana county fair show, and if THAT'S not overrated, I don't know what is."

Randy Orton Talks on WrestleMania, Title Run, Manu & More

Randy Orton recently took part in an interview with The Sun. You can see some highlights below and check the whole article out here. About his match with Triple H not meeting expectations: "This was a storyline where Triple H needed retribution. He needed to beat the living p*** out of me because of what I did. I handcuffed him and made him watch while I beat up his wife and then kissed her while she was unconscious. Then to top it off after I do that, I knock him out with a sledgehammer to the head. I kick his father-in-law in the skull and put him in the hospital, and do the same to his brother-in-law. I think when all that happens and then you have this match where he can’t be disqualified or he loses the title, you kind of screw yourself. We were not able to do everything that the other guys were able to do. Matt and Jeff Hardy had a hardcore no-holds-barred match. They were able to use all the bells and whistles to beat the hell out of each other. Everyone was expecting Triple H and I to do the same, but we had rules that put a fence around everything we were able to do. We weren’t able to go to the extreme. If anything hurt us, it was that." I wasn't going to comment but him saying "If anything hurt us, it was that" just makes me think he is delusional. No one credible has praised that match. His delusion became clear when he added, "No, because I was happy with the match. I really was." About how his current title run will be different than the others he has had, he said: "The older and more mature I’ve become in the business, the more responsibility I’m able to carry in being champion and representing the company. This is going to be where I make my name and I cement myself in history." About former Legacy member Manu: "Manu had some respect issues. There are a lot of different reasons he wasn’t good for Legacy, but the reason he’s not with the company anymore had a lot to do with his backstage attitude."

Thoughts on Orton vs Batista & WWE's Young Guns (HQ)

I don't know why, but I feel like I've seen Orton-Batista too many times and over a too short a time period, by looking at the picture on the match preview, it just looks too same-ish. And when it's only Judgement Day, the second summer PPV, that's not great for WWE, there's a long time until Summerslam and I'm already bored with this match. It might be because of the disappointing match they had a Armageddon, which I don't actually remember that well.

In theory these two are two of the biggest stars in the WWE, and probably could have a great match. But they will not because Batista is not the star, athlete or wrestler that Randy Orton is, he's boring, he's the same old stuff night after night and to be honest he's an over paid and over hyped powerhouse (like the common fat school bully). His best years are behind him, from this point on, he will not have a career-defining match. At this point in time, someone like Santino Marella has a better chance at a history-making match or moment, than Batista.

Sure, I'm being harsh and angry, but that's it as well, I feel distain for Batista, he angers me (and seeing him doing absolutely nothing, just standing around, at the Hatton-Pacquiao fight on Saturday didn't help, only cause WWE didn't have any House Shows this weekend).

Anyway, away from how s**t Batista is. WWE could have used this as a chance to get a real #1 contender, and not just through a stupid match, that was an apparent set up by Vickie and Big Show, which was always going to go Batista's way. But I do have to commend the WWE slightly on the drama with Cena coming out to taunt Show, considering they nearly killed him off the night before; I have to admit I didn't expect that.

As I was saying, with two of the WWE's top superstars "on the shelf", this could have been the golden opportunity to showcase some real young talent. Whilst on the subject, it'll be interesting to see how a John Morrison face turn will work, you can see it happening already, even with him saying "S'up Teddy" to Teddy Long rather casually. And I really want to see Morrison and Jericho square off, ironic considering JR has called Morrison a young Shawn Michaels; he also looked good against Shelton Benjamin, but would have loved to seen an epic match, like Shelton and 'Taker had the other week. That's another supertstar who has it all just not the backing from Vince, at least he's got a bit further than his former tag team partner Charlie Haas, who seems to be finishing his impersonating days and tag teaming with Knox whilst over here in Europe. And also it'll be good to see how Miz's heel run goes on Raw after his "win" over John Cena on Monday Night.

WWE Encyclopedia: Book review

I have read the WWE Encyclopedia and I have to say that it is a must have for any WWE fan. Although obviously it is slightly out of date because it was printed in 2008 so people like Tyson Kid are missing but other than that I would say the book is fantastic.

A few points that I felt was a bit poor was that Randy Orton only got a quarter of a page. where some of the superstars who did not do much or win any titles in the 80s and 90s got more of a space on the page. People like Triple H and The Undertaker got either a whole page or a double page spread which is more than deserved.

Overall I'd give the book 4 and 1/2 stars out of 5 because I feel a few people were over looked with regards to space but was pleased Chris Benoit got a mention because I hate the fact that up until then WWE insulted the fans intelligence by pretending he did not exist.
