The Miz Responds to Critics of his WWE NXT Pairing with Bryan Danielson

WWE.com have caught up on the rumblings on the net about people not being happy that The Miz has been paired with Daniel Bryan/Bryan Danielson. The Miz has written a new blog on his WWE Universe account that reads the following:
"There has been a lot of controversy this week about me mentoring Daniel Bryan on WWE's new show, WWE NXT.

I've read a lot of interviews, blogs, ect. about the matter and they all seem to be asking the same thing. "Why is The Miz mentoring Daniel Bryan when Daniel Bryan has wrestled all over the world for 10 years plus?"

It's come to my knowledge that some members of the WWE Universe think they know everything about WWE and what it takes to be a WWE Superstar. They think that if a guy does well in the independent minor leagues, then all of a sudden he should be in the WWE.

They think that if a guy can main event in front of a hundred people at a bingo hall, then he's ready to main event at WrestleMania. Just because fans on the Internet say you’re ready doesn't mean you really are.

Just because a fat guy with no teeth who sits in the front row, buys your T-shirt and says you're the king of wrestling, doesn't mean you really are.

What the WWE Universe doesn't understand is there is so much more then I can describe in a single blog involved in being successful in the WWE.

My job is to make Daniel Bryan a star in the WWE, because let's face it, if you look at a picture of him right now, do you think STAR?

No, Daniel Bryan looks like my accountant ... ordinary and bland.

Maybe if he had The Miz's charisma and look, he would have been in the WWE by now. Don't hate on me because it didn't take me a decade to get a WWE contract and go down in WWE history to be the first Superstar to win the United States Title and Unified Tag Team Titles.

Don't get me wrong, Daniel Bryan has all the talent in the world, but every wrestler has weaknesses. And that's what my job is, to find his weakness and make him the biggest star possible.

I just hope Daniel Bryan doesn't believe himself what these ignorant members of the WWE Universe believe about him, or WWE NXT is going to be a nightmare for him.

2009 Dirty Awards: Best Storyline of the Year

Nominations and Winner:
- John Cena Vs The Miz (Anti-Cena campaign) (Winner)
- Rey Mysterio Vs Bastista (Betrayal)
- Jeff Hardy Vs CM Punk (Lifestyle Choices)
- Randy Orton Vs Kofi Kingston ("Costing Title" and a Rising Star)
- Chris Jericho Vs. WWE Legends
This Dirty should not be confused with Best Feud of the Year. This Dirty is looking at everything involved except the matches between the Superstars involved. The reason why Cena vs. The Miz won is that it really helped The Miz get to where he is now a serious rising star. The promos The Miz cut were amazing and to be honest what he was saying about Cena echoed what some of the crowd was thinking. The Batista vs. Mysterio angle is good but I did dislike the use of Eddie Guerrero’s death which mean this storyline could never win the Dirty. Jeff Hardy and CM Punk had brilliant matches but the storyline itself got very repetitive, there is only so many times you can hear about freedom of choice and the evils of drugs before you get bored. Kingston vs. Orton the only thing perhaps stopping this feud winning the Dirty is that it started to late in the year. Y2J vs. Legends feud really got a shot in the arm by the violent assault against Ric Flair which might have been the first blood I had seen before the PG split which made it special. But Mickey Rouke and a lack of development let this feud down and meant it could not win the Dirty.

O’Dea Notes: And the fact that Mickey Rouke randomly calling him out and then being told that because of an insurance policy, he couldn’t fight a fly let alone a Jericho. We don’t care about Ironman 2.

2009 Dirty Awards: Best Gimmick of the Year

The Miz (“I’m Awesome!”) [Winner]
‘I’m the Miz and I’m awesome!’ A simple statement yet it set up a whole new character for The Miz leading him into a whole new career which will lead to great things. The Miz’s new gimmick is unique which is why he also won the Dirty. The only complaint with this new gimmick is the change of attire. Y2J gimmick is amazingly executed but is too similar to Orton’s Viper gimmick and that is why they could not win the Dirty. Big Show’s Monster heel is good but not unique enough to win the Dirty although together Y2J and Big Show’s gimmick combined make then the Best Tag Team this year. CM Punks gimmick is good but I feel that sometimes it put too much of a negative emphasis on straight edge life style.

2009 Dirty Awards: Most Improved

I defy anybody to disagree with our nomination for most improved. The Miz, A good tag team wrestler became an amazing singles wrestler. Not only that he has won the US title he beat John Cena 5 times this year (sort of.) Most importantly when The Miz and Morrison split The Miz left as the dominate partner, which he proved at Bragging Rights and Survivor Series. John Morrison did not win most improved because he was already amazing and only got slightly better. This is a similar situation to Kofi Kingston. Dolph Ziggler has improved dramatically since he randomly us to introduce himself to people. He just needed a title to improve his chance dramatically of winning this award. DH Smith has improved since join the Hart Dynasty but just not on the same level as The Miz took take the prize. But bright things can be expected from all of these people.

- Skull Crushing Finale (The Miz)
The co-winners of this Dirty have got it for different reasons. The Hell’s gate won the award for its dominance and sheer destructive nature. On the other hand Starship Pain won the award for its flamboyancy and sheer athleticism. The Big Show was nominated for the award like the Hell’s Gate for its dominance rather than appearance. The Cross Rhodes and the Skull Crushing Finale were nominated for their aggressiveness and their classy look.

2009 Dirty Awards: OMG! Moment of the Year

The Suicide Dive won, because it was one of the few times WWE managed mine and O’Dea’s suspend disbelief. We both genuinely thought Taker had broken his neck. What made the moment better was realising that he was ok because it was still an amazing feat of athleticism. Edge blindsiding Kofi was a contender because after Edge lost it was funny and what made it more shocking is that Edge went on to win the title which was another surprise. JBL quitting was an OMG moment more for the way it happened rather than the event itself. Firstly I thought JBL would retire as champ and secondly I never imagined he would leave after a 30 second speech. (O’Dea Note: I still think it should have been the Jeff Hardy leg drop miss & twist of fate in the chair at WM25.) The splitting of the Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century (arguably ever so far) was a shock because they were such a cohesive unit and they had a very popular internet show, the name of which I forget and yet WWE split them up but looks like they were right to do so because look how successful they are now. Big Show chokeslamming Cena was shocking but it was obviously staged and that is what let it down.

The Miz Tweets Whilst Being Pulled Over by the Police

This from Ryan Clark of WrestlingINC.com: WWE Raw Superstar Mike “The Miz” Mizanin was pulled over by a police officer while driving on Saturday night and wrote about the situation on Twitter as it unfolded. “Just got pulled over. This always happens to me. Let’s see if I can get just a warning. Prob not though never that lucky,” said Miz regarding the encounter, presumably related to a minor traffic offense (such as speeding). He later added, “And the verdict is in….not guilty. Well actually I was guilty but was let go with a warning. See there r nice cops out there.” While getting pulled over for a minor traffic is not a huge deal (especially when he didn’t even receive a ticket), Miz’s Twitter postings seem to represent the kind of publicity WWE wanted to avoid when they supposedly told their superstars to limit their Twitter use and not post anything controversial.

Hot RAW with Hot Rod! Boom, Boom, Boom! Be Miz!

'For the Hundreds in attendance and the millions watching at home lets get ready to' Pedigree Hornswoggle!

Hot Rod was amazing as the guest host and despite the opening segment which was weak, Iron Sheik whatever. Other than that it was amazing! Hot Rod and Vince at Mania, maybe? But that led to the rise of the next star of Raw, Kofi (phony Jamaican) Kingston. who Boom dropped his way to stardom (what elevation by the way.) Also and amazing match was MVP vs The Miz and although a bit random, it was a solid match with a good finish and if I am honest, I think that there will not be a Marty Jannetty between the Miz and Morrison just two HBKs.

Another plus point is that WWE have finally worked out how to do a multi-team tag match properly, if there are 3 teams make it a triple threat in the ring. The match was far to short, but it did build up Survivors Series well and it made me want to see it more.

Another earning votes as the Power25 would put it is the Celtic Warrior Sheamus, he beat up the time keeper (easy heat) and the King (easier heat) I the future is bright, the future has orange hair, watch this space!

At WWE Bragging Rights Jerry "The King" Lawler said this about Miz and having to support him in his match versus John Morrison: "I couldn't warm up to this guy if we were cremated together"

HIAC 2009 Match Preview - United States Championship Triple Threat Match

Kofi Kingston (now apparently from Ghana, having spent a lot of time in Jamica) has been in so many of these multi-person matches since he won the United States Championship from MVP the week before Extreme Rules, and has prevailed every time, but this time I think his clock has run out of time. As Miz or Jack Swagger will (or at least should) walk out of the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, the new United States Champion.

These three have done well to build this match, but I'm not 100% convinced and they will and should give us a good match tonight. The one thing that I love about this match is that the Miz is instant heat, as soon as his music hits the arena erupts with a chorus of booing. I liked at Breaking Point his French promo, considering they were in Montreal and anyone with half a brain cell could guess where he was going with it.

Jack Swagger proved himself as a main event player earlier this year during his ECW Championship reign, but since he's been on Raw, he hasn't been given the time he really needs and deserves, instead they cram the 2 hours with Hornswoggle. Also the fact that they are in America, where they have to have a ad break every 10 minutes on a live Raw broadcast only one other match except for the main event is allowed to go through an ad break, which is stupid.

Anyway, I digress, these three have everything they need to put on a match of epic proportions, but I think the amount of matches on the card will harm their chances to put on a truly fantastic match. Miz and Swagger are future main event players, and Kofi, I guess, it looks like thy're trying to remove the Jamaican gimmick from him (like announcing him from Ghana, West Africa, which is like announcing William Regal from England, North Europe, Stupid. And taking the Jamaican flag off his entrance video/set thing). So they should be trying to make a real statement tonight, but would WWE really let them do that.

Raw and New Found Respect for Todd Grisham

RAW was poor, 30 minute opening segment with DX with very litte point, yes it was mildly ammusing and yes it was funny to see Big Dick Johnson return but was it necessary? No. The guest host was there for like 10 seconds and all he did was set up a crap tag team match. Oh and one other thing relating to the tag team match can you break this code: 'PVM NDA RAKM NHEYR SA A GAT EAMT LILW UCSK!' and was the of two poor boxing related segments. The only high point was The Miz vs Santino Marella. Oh and I supose the fact Cena only appeared for 5 minutes is always a positive.

Also a subpoint unrelated to RAW after seeing his abuse of TNA on Byte this, I now have respect for Todd Grisham!!! Also the last caller on the vid summed it up "TNA sucks!"

Tonight on Raw

Tonight on Raw, along with the new WWE Champion Batista opening the show, 24 Hours after beating the Big Show, John Cena faces The Miz, in a lesson of respect? And also the Divas Champion Maryse will put her title on the line in a rematch against Kelly Kelly. Announced on the WWE Universe Live Chat was a Non-Title Match between Unified WWE Tag Team Champions Primo & Carlito and Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, if Legacy win they get a future title shot.

Massive Raw Main Event from The STAPLES Center and Vince ready to file Lawsuit?

The following is from WWE.com: Live on Raw from Los Angeles' STAPLES Center, WWE presents its answer to the Lakers vs. the Denver Nuggets. WWE Champion Randy Orton, Legacy, The Miz & Big Show face U.S. Champion MVP, Batista, John Cena, Jerry Lawler & a fifth "player."

WWE issued the following statement on their website announcing the Raw in Los Angeles for this Monday: STAMFORD, Conn. – World Wrestling Entertainment has made arrangements, given innumerable logistical challenges and obstacles, to move its internationally televised broadcast, WWE Monday Night Raw to Los Angeles' STAPLES Center. The live televised event, which was scheduled to take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver this Monday, May 25th, will take place live at the STAPLES Center at 5:30 p.m. PT. Tickets for Monday Night Raw in Los Angeles will become available tonight at 8 p.m. ET. WWE was forced to seek alternative arrangements due to the Pepsi Center's double-booking of May 25 for both WWE Monday Night Raw and Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. The event will now take place live from the home of the Denver Nuggets' opponents, the Los Angeles Lakers. Denver fans wishing to receive a refund for their tickets to the originally scheduled Pepsi Center event must return tickets to the original point of purchase. Vince McMahon spoke to 9News and once again seems to be considering legal action against Denver Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke. McMahon said: "It's really unfortunate because if he were just a regular business man and picked up the phone and said, 'Vince, you know, we're throwing you out but I want to make it right, what can we do?' I never heard from Kroenke, I don't know if anyone else has either, by the way, he's somewhat of a Howard Hughes guy I understand. I think our company has been damaged severely from a financial standpoint and from a psychological standpoint as well. You don't treat people the way Kroenke's management treated us. I'm not a litigious kind of guy, but quite frankly when we have a contract and we have over 10,000 tickets sold and you just say: we're out, and we're not going to do anything for you, you know we're not going to make any restitution. We may pay for your additional expenses, that's it. There could very well be a lawsuit down the road." In related news, TMZ.com has picked up the news that Raw is moving to Los Angeles and writes, "Vince isn't moving out of the kindness of his heart, he and the Nuggets struck a settlement -- but the terms of that deal haven't been made public yet."

Backlash My Arse!

Tonight is the 11th time "Backlash" has been used as a PPV and probably will be the worst ever. I'll start with the Undercard will I? Well I can't because it consists of the Great Khali and Santino's gay love fest (and there isn't Ron Simmons to say "DAMN!" anymore). It might be comedy, but I wouldn't pay to watch that (but I don't need to, cause it's free on Sky Sports in the UK tonight), put it on 15 minutes into ECW not the PPV. Since WWE when back to all tri-branded PPVs at Backlash 2007, it should mean that they have enough for a PPV every time, well, the last year they've show that they can't do it.

The One match that would have worked and would have actually fitted the PPV's title "Backlash", would have been The Miz vs John Morrison, if they have actually got some TV time, but Morrison did a good Dirt Sheet whilst he took dig at The Miz and could have been a good lead up to a match. But to be honest, most of the rest of the card might make up for the disappointment, or the sick feeling after seeing an Indian and an Italian drag up lock up. The Last Man Standing Match should be good, but the kinda got the "end of the feud" thing out of the blue and where did the simulation that it's Edge's last chance come from??? The tag match might also be alright as well, only as long as Randy Orton & Legacy win. Because I don't want to see anymore of Shane and Batista tagging together and main eventing Smackdown (strange for Raw superstars, isn't it, but don't worry they can just get Michael Cole to say that it will be back to normal after Backlash). I also hope that Steamboat has a great match as well, he looked in great shape at WrestleMania and against Jericho they could have a good match, and more than your average legends match. And thanks to websites like this, the "I Quit" match, which will be a good match (with all the emotion that it needs and the high risk moves that this match needs), could already be over with out it happening. Kane/Punk, well blah blah blah, the top of the ladder, blah blah blah. And Christian should win the ECW Championship, unless Vince still has a problem with that and thinks that he is a mid-carder, oh sorry, forgot that ECW is SHIT at the moment. Anyway, WWE hasn't exactly packed it in for tonight where they could have, because they haven't exactly planned it out after WrestleMania and they WILL be worse off after tonight, if you believe dirt sheet websites.

Quick note on the draft

ECW was screwed in the recent draft, hopefully it will pick up in the supplement draft. Punk to pick up a title at Backlash assuming Edge loses. Swagger did well against Cena proving he is a hot prospect. The Bromance is over and the Miz and Morrison are split (for now) hopefully in the meantime The Miz could pick up the US title. Let's see what will happen on Wednesday!!!
