Wrestlemania XXVI Preview: World Heavyweight Championship Match
Spear vs. CodebreakerRoyal Rumble winner Edge takes on World Heavyweight Champion and former tag team partner Chris Jericho, in a match that is much more than a title match, this is a grudge match of epic proportions.
Edge was injured during his tag team title reign with Y2J which led to the formation of JeriShow. It also led to lots of taunting from Y2J with regards to Edge’s weakness. Now you don’t need to be a Smark to see what was coming next. Edge returning from injury surprising EVERYONE and went and one it, ruining my predictions I might add! Now all that needed to be addressed was the issue that Edge had a date for the big dance and it wasn’t Y2J. Enter HBK at Elimination Chamber, for purely selfish reasons he took out The Undertaker costing him the big gold belt, in to process much to Edge’s delight Chris Jericho happened to win the Elimination Chamber earning the Big Gold Belt.
Now as this was going on Edge debut an amazing fan favourite phrase ‘Spear!’ no said once is fine, repeated 1,000 times however it begins to grate ever so slightly. But not only did he say the word 1000 times he used the move almost as many taking out the likes of Big Show, Miz and Wade Barrett. Jericho also seemed to be out witted by Edge on every occasion they met, but then there was that fateful Highlight Reel on Smackdown when Y2J attempted to introduce Edge to the Jeri-tron 6000 (I think it is the Jeri-tron 6000 but don’t quote me on that.) Edge reversed it, and set up the Spear, but Y2J was ready and clocked Edge with the WHC belt knocking him out. Fast forward one week to the Cutting Edge and once again Y2J got the better of Edge hitting him this time with the Codebreaker. Through this time Y2J has compared Edge to David Beckham (wow, there is a reference I never thought I’d make on this site) and suggesting that Edge’s DNA well cost him the match as he is injury prone, which compared to Y2J is the case.
This match will probably and hopefully be the last match on the card so that WWE follow tradition of putting the Royal Rumble winners match last on the card. The winner however is not such a clear cut decision, on one hand Edge could complete his triumphant return and spear his way to the Big Gold Belt or will Y2J be able to break the code of the spear and retain? Plus there is the wild card option as there looks to be a Money in the Bank PPV view this year so will Vince continue the Wrestlemania tradition of the past two years of less than a minute title matches and have the MitB winner cash in at Mania against ever the WHC or WWE Champion? All I know for a fact is that I cannot wait for Wrestlemania to find the answer to this question!

2009 Dirty Awards: Worst Storyline of the Year
Nominations and Winners:
Vickie Guerrero Vs Santina/Santino Marella (Miss Wrestlemania)
Edge, Big Show and Vickie Guerrero (Love Triangle)
Paul Burchill Vs The Hurricane (Mask Vs ECW career)
Matt Hardy Vs Jeff Hardy (brother Vs brother) (Co-Winner)
Montreal Screwjob 4 (Co-Winner)
Now when you take away the matches in Matt vs. Jeff, you get a rather awkward brother vs. brother story that neither man wanted to be in. Also after the storyline ended it was forget and everyone ignored virtually everything that happened within the story. The other co-winning storyline had a similar affected. After Breaking Point we had Hell in a Cell and the entire submission match was forgotten likewise CM Punk vs. Scott Armstrong something that started after that match stopped abruptly as well. The key reason though why Montreal 4 is the co-winner of this Dirty is that it is the 4th time a screwjob has taken place in WWE in Montreal and the 3rd on that has been faked. When will WWE learn it was a shock the first time it is boring now.
If Kozlov vs. Jackson and the Ruthless Roundtable was the best thing to come from ECW this year then Paul Burchill/The Ripper vs. The Hurricane is the worse if anything Burchill Mask is reason enough but if I am honest the whole idea of the story lack one thing, people that care about it! The Vickie – Edge – Big Show love triangle was funny and lead to Vickie having some ‘splaining to do’ but it wasn’t right for a Wrestlemania but still was not as awkward as Hardy vs. Hardy or Montreal 4. To spend more than one sentence on Vickie vs. Santina would be a waste of time so I won’t, so all I will say is that it didn’t win the Dirty as I would rather not remember it.

- Edge Blindsiding Kofi at No Way Out, 15th February
- JBL Quitting at Wrestlemania 25, 5th April
- The Miz and Morrison splitting up at WWE Draft, 13th April
- Big Show Chokeslams John Cena through the searchlight at Backlash, 26th April
The Suicide Dive won, because it was one of the few times WWE managed mine and O’Dea’s suspend disbelief. We both genuinely thought Taker had broken his neck. What made the moment better was realising that he was ok because it was still an amazing feat of athleticism. Edge blindsiding Kofi was a contender because after Edge lost it was funny and what made it more shocking is that Edge went on to win the title which was another surprise. JBL quitting was an OMG moment more for the way it happened rather than the event itself. Firstly I thought JBL would retire as champ and secondly I never imagined he would leave after a 30 second speech. (O’Dea Note: I still think it should have been the Jeff Hardy leg drop miss & twist of fate in the chair at WM25.) The splitting of the Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century (arguably ever so far) was a shock because they were such a cohesive unit and they had a very popular internet show, the name of which I forget and yet WWE split them up but looks like they were right to do so because look how successful they are now. Big Show chokeslamming Cena was shocking but it was obviously staged and that is what let it down.

- Legacy vs. D-Generation X, Submissions Count Anywhere Match, Breaking Point, 13th Setember
- Randy Orton (c) Vs John Cena, 60-Minute Anything Goes WWE Ironman Match, Bragging Rights, 25th October
- Edge (c) vs Jeff Hardy ladder match, Extreme Rules, 7th June
Do I really need to explain why this match is the winner of this dirty? Shawn Michaels’ entrance was amazing. Even if The Undertaker’s entrance was a Gangrel rip off we can forgive that for what happened next. The match was ‘vintage’ Undertaker and HBK. We saw classic Wrestlemania moments like Takers suicide dive (see dirty award for OMG moment of the year) as well as the finish HBK Moonsault into a Tombstone. The other candidates are their also for obvious reasons. JoMo vs. Mysterio was one of the best matches I have seen on Smackdown but the lack of storyline is what let it down. The Falls count anywhere submission match was good because the ending was a shock and it proved Legacy could work hard. The Iron Man match was a brilliant spectacle but the technical ability of the superstars was lacking. The ladder match between Jeff and Edge was a reminder of so many of their epic battles of the past but still a great match in its own right.
O’Dea Note: Taker-Michaels was arguably the match of the decade. They tore the house down, like everyone knew they would. They went for just under 31 minutes and strangely I thought that they were still limited or not given enough time, probably because Trips wanted 20 minutes at the end, I mean that match really screwed the audience at Reliant Stadium over, it wasn’t Wrestlemania Main Event quality especially after the nearly picture perfect build up. And also Triple H never actually smashed through that glass live, they just saw him stand there for a second then walk down the ramp through a frame, people in the stadium must have gone “What, What on earth was that”. I mean, what happened there surely if Shelton is allowed to jump off that enormous ladder, live, surely Trips can break a bit of glass, live!
I also really liked the Submissions Count Anywhere Match, it was interesting how they were going to do it leading up to the PPV, but they didn’t disappoint, the only disappointment, if any, was you knew that Shawn Michaels would be the one who took the loss. I was the over-riding reason that the Ironmatch was in the nominations just because of the spectacle and in relation to the rest of the PPV, it was miles and miles better than anything else on the card. The only reservation I have with that match was how obvious the ending the was and who was going to win with just under 2 minutes to go.

Tonight on the WWE 3-FOR-ALL
Tonight at 8/7 CT (1am BST), The 3-for-all, with 4 massive title matches from all 3 brands. From ECW, The New ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer goes up against former champ Christian, the "gold" on the line. From Smackdown, a Triple Threat for the World Heavyweight Championship, the new champ CM Punk defends against Jeff Hardy and Edge. The vacant WWE Championship will be put on the line in a Fatal-Four Way between the Big Show, John Cena, Randy Orton and the returning Triple H. Also, Chris Jericho will put his newly won Intercontinental Championship on the line against Rey Mysterio. With Former Raw GM Vickie Guerrero quitting last week Vince McMahon is back to announce Raw's new GM! And So make sure you tune in for 3 hours of WWE at its very best!

Déjà PPVu - Latest Extreme Rules Card
Lets be honest, right now the WWE PPV summer schedule is in full swing, but this is a bit off-colour having the 1st five PPV matches that have been confirmed being a rerun of Judgement Day, just with stipulations. I understand that this is the way the WWE run their summer feuds, and maybe even with Cena-Show, the stipulation has a bit of sorry behind it, but it just seems too "same-ish" (and not in a good way). And then you add in that people like Cena and Mysterio apparently (story-line wise) want to move on from their Judgement Day opponents, but still get put back into those matches, it's too obvious because is there anyone else for Cena to go after whilst Randy Orton is locked in a Steel Cage.
And what is a Samoan Strap Match, on Smackdown Friday night is just looked like a long and fat belt, it that it (and it was strange to here Umaga speak in his normal "American" voice, well he hardly going to have a strong Samoan accent, considering Dwanye "Not the Rock" Johnson is his cousin).
FOLLOW-UP NOTE: I've been doing to research and I've found out that CM Punk hasn't been on a PPV card only 6 times since WrestleMania 23 (the point at which all WWE PPVs became Tri-branded) in 2007 (and on one of them, at Cyber Sunday 2008, he could have had a match and was also on the poster for the PPV). And between WrestleMania 23 and 24 he only missed Backlash 2007. At the worst PPV in WWE History, December to Dismember, CM Punk was in the Extreme Elimination Chamber after only being on WWE Programming for 5 Months, that after being in DX's Survivor Series team in 2006. WWE seem to have trust in him ever since he came to the company and now believe that he can become one of the biggest faces on Smackdown.

Wrestling Quote #11: You Whore!
After Lita's affair with Edge (Adam Copeland), Matt Hardy makes his return, jumps Edge, and then grabs the mic:
"Adam, you bastard, I'm gonna make your life miserable and Lita, you whore, I'm gonna make your life miserable too, and the WWE can kiss my ass. Come see at the Ring of Honor! R-O-H!"
Then security tackles him and takes him away from the ring and Edge and Lita.

Judgement Day 2009: World Heavyweight Championship (HQ)
After defeating John Cena at Backlash, it didn’t take long for World Heavyweight Champion Edge to find out he would be defending his gold against the high-flying Jeff Hardy at Judgment Day.
On the first SmackDown after Backlash, Jeff Hardy won a No. 1 Contender Fatal-4-Way Elimination Match against formidable foes, Kane, Chris Jericho, and Rey Mysterio in Madison Square Garden. The victory officially gave Hardy the opportunity for a match with The Rated-R Superstar.
And on that same night in The Garden, Hardy delivered a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb to Edge, who found himself in a vulnerable position after losing a non-title match to CM Punk.
Hardy has made it clear. He wants gold – something that was taken from him at Royal Rumble by none other than Edge, after a shocking betrayal from his own brother, Matt Hardy. At Backlash, Jeff finally got revenge on his brother by winning their emotion-charged “I Quit" Match.
Now, Hardy has set his sights on the world champion. Can Edge find a way to beat Hardy like he did Cena at Backlash, or will The Charismatic Enigma ride a wave of momentum into Judgment Day and leave with gold around his waist?

3rd Time Lucky?
On the next edition of WWE Superstars, two of Smackdown's biggest new stars face off after their confrontation Friday Night.
This Thursday Edge brings The Cutting Edge to WWE Superstars, with his Judgement Day opponent Jeff Hardy, what will happen before their clash in Chicago.
And also Santina and Kelly Kelly team up in "Diva" tag team action.

Second-Time Superstars
In their first "WWE Superstars" appearances, the highly athletic Kofi Kingston will get a chance to shine as he faces Edge just days before The Rated-R Superstar challenges World Heavyweight Champion John Cena at Backlash.
Both Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio and Kane will be looking for payback on "WWE Superstars" after having suffered defeat at the hands of Big Show and CM Punk, respectively, on Raw this week.
Raw this week.Spilling out of their confrontation on ECW, "WWE Superstars" will see Finlay & his recently drafted son Hornswoggle face Tyson Kidd & Natalya, whose family trained Kidd in the legendary Hart Dungeon.
