Big Show: "There's Not Anybody Good Enough to Take My Position"

In an interview the Sun Newspaper here in the UK, Former ECW, WCW and WWE Champion, 37-Year Old, Big Show has sent out a stark message to the younger talent in the WWE, that he's not going to give up his position at the top and in the main event easily. Saying among other things:

"I want to let you know flat out there's not anybody good enough to take my position. And I'm certainly not going to give my position up just because I've been on top for a while, and nor would anyone else. If there's another giant that can walk in and take my position, then good for him. He can run with it and I'll retire.

Until then I'm going to work on top as long as I can, make as much money as I can and entertain the fans as much as I can. It's up to the younger generation to come to the locker room, step up and be leaders. Every one of us who is on top right now has had to fight and dig and bend to the penthouse and bend to the outhouse as far as booking and positioning goes. I'm not just going to lay down because somebody new comes in — they're going to have to earn it."

Unlike some outside of the WWE, Show doesn't blame Vince McMahon in anyway for the lack of new stars over the past couple of years:
"These guys need to step up. If there was a young guy who could step up, Vince would push them in a heartbeat. They've got every opportunity in the world to grab the ring and get to the top.

Look at John Cena — he is singularly the hardest working guy in our business. I flat out have so much respect for John and the work ethic that he puts in. He might not go home for two months between wrestling shows, interviews, appearances and charity work.And that's the thing that John Cena has above everyone else — it comes down completely to work ethic."

But its not all negative from the World's Largest Athlete, Big Show can see that there obviously future talent right in front of them in the WWE, but are they willing to put everything in to their wrestling careers to make it to the top?:
"Talent will get you so far, but work ethic is the key. That's the thing that the guys on top have. We don't complain about flights. We don't complain about not going home. We don't complain about having an hour's sleep and then doing interviews at 5am.

That's why we're on top — because we step up to the plate and do whatever it takes to make the company succeed. A lot of people aren't willing to do that, they're happy and content to be where they are. I really do think that is strange, and it plagues a lot of older guys in the locker room. We can't understand why they are not taking these opportunities. But let them be content. I'll stay on top!"

2009 Dirty Awards: Worst Storyline of the Year

Now when you take away the matches in Matt vs. Jeff, you get a rather awkward brother vs. brother story that neither man wanted to be in. Also after the storyline ended it was forget and everyone ignored virtually everything that happened within the story. The other co-winning storyline had a similar affected. After Breaking Point we had Hell in a Cell and the entire submission match was forgotten likewise CM Punk vs. Scott Armstrong something that started after that match stopped abruptly as well. The key reason though why Montreal 4 is the co-winner of this Dirty is that it is the 4th time a screwjob has taken place in WWE in Montreal and the 3rd on that has been faked. When will WWE learn it was a shock the first time it is boring now.

If Kozlov vs. Jackson and the Ruthless Roundtable was the best thing to come from ECW this year then Paul Burchill/The Ripper vs. The Hurricane is the worse if anything Burchill Mask is reason enough but if I am honest the whole idea of the story lack one thing, people that care about it! The Vickie – Edge – Big Show love triangle was funny and lead to Vickie having some ‘splaining to do’ but it wasn’t right for a Wrestlemania but still was not as awkward as Hardy vs. Hardy or Montreal 4. To spend more than one sentence on Vickie vs. Santina would be a waste of time so I won’t, so all I will say is that it didn’t win the Dirty as I would rather not remember it.

‘I’m the Miz and I’m awesome!’ A simple statement yet it set up a whole new character for The Miz leading him into a whole new career which will lead to great things. The Miz’s new gimmick is unique which is why he also won the Dirty. The only complaint with this new gimmick is the change of attire. Y2J gimmick is amazingly executed but is too similar to Orton’s Viper gimmick and that is why they could not win the Dirty. Big Show’s Monster heel is good but not unique enough to win the Dirty although together Y2J and Big Show’s gimmick combined make then the Best Tag Team this year. CM Punks gimmick is good but I feel that sometimes it put too much of a negative emphasis on straight edge life style.

The winners of the Dirty my shock a lot of people, but unlike Vickie and Escobar, Maria and Ziggler and Vickie and Big Show, Santina and Ross did not split up. Torres and Swagger never got together to break up so hence why they did not win the Dirty.

The co-winners of this Dirty have got it for different reasons. The Hell’s gate won the award for its dominance and sheer destructive nature. On the other hand Starship Pain won the award for its flamboyancy and sheer athleticism. The Big Show was nominated for the award like the Hell’s Gate for its dominance rather than appearance. The Cross Rhodes and the Skull Crushing Finale were nominated for their aggressiveness and their classy look.

The Suicide Dive won, because it was one of the few times WWE managed mine and O’Dea’s suspend disbelief. We both genuinely thought Taker had broken his neck. What made the moment better was realising that he was ok because it was still an amazing feat of athleticism. Edge blindsiding Kofi was a contender because after Edge lost it was funny and what made it more shocking is that Edge went on to win the title which was another surprise. JBL quitting was an OMG moment more for the way it happened rather than the event itself. Firstly I thought JBL would retire as champ and secondly I never imagined he would leave after a 30 second speech. (O’Dea Note: I still think it should have been the Jeff Hardy leg drop miss & twist of fate in the chair at WM25.) The splitting of the Greatest Tag Team of the 21st Century (arguably ever so far) was a shock because they were such a cohesive unit and they had a very popular internet show, the name of which I forget and yet WWE split them up but looks like they were right to do so because look how successful they are now. Big Show chokeslamming Cena was shocking but it was obviously staged and that is what let it down.

Also at WWE Bragging Rights we saw the 7-on-7 Raw vs Smackdown Match. Earlier in the night DX gave a little pep-talk to the Raw Team. Triple H: Guys gather round, it's Raw 1, Smackdown 1, the stakes have been upped. We cannot lose this match tonight, so what we... Jack Swagger: Do we really need this little rah rah speech? I mean the fact is, I'm on the team, therefore it's better, therefore, you shouldn't worry so much. Shawn Michaels: Look! If it were only that simple Swagger. You have all the athletic ability in the world, but you know what? You have no-ones' respect, and it's respect that is going to carry this team. Back me up on this Hunter. HHH: Right, no-one respects you. The thing is individually, the team shouldn't even be able to get along. I mean, let's face facts, we've been making fun out of Mark Henry ever since that time he nearly had a baby with May Young. Mark Henry: Man that was a long time ago, nobodies still thinking about that, I mean you're not still picking on me. HHH: No and even if we were, thats still not the most important thing at this time. Listen we have stuffed Vince McMahon's head up Big Show's naked butt. We beat Cody Rhodes so badly that he had to be carried away on a stretcher. And more importantly, we exposed this man as a phony Jamaican. Kofi Kingston: Woah, woah, I told you guys that the only reason I did that was because I was paying tribute to the Jamaican heritage. HBK: Stop, Stop! That's not important, the fact is Swagger, nobody on this team really likes Hunter and myself, yeah it's true, but they do respect us and so will you. Now, if you don't want to be a part of this team you can walk out right now and quiet frankly I'll replace you with the first person I see... (Hornswoggle comes in wearing DX gear)... OK maybe not the first person... (Horny does the DX chop) HHH: Take that stuff off and wash your face... Listen guys, the bottom line is we cannot lose tonight, we will not lose tonight, this is bigger than just a match, this is about honour, this is about pride, this is a bout being able to go into a locker room and see those SmackDown guys and not have them look you in the eye and know your a loser. Blink and it's over....But He's Back

William Regal's plan unfolded??? According to Matt Striker. So instead of blindsiding the champ before the match and winning the title. His plan was to lose the match and then beat Christian up. Now I do not claim to be an expert but ECW is not until Tuesday and I would like to think the next ECW title match will be 'Breaking Point' which is three weeks away. So is there going to be some residual effects? I don't think so. Well to make up for this absolutely stupid idea hopefully Regal will destroy Christian at 'Breaking Point' with the Regal Strech and give some class to the ECW Title.

To be honest, I can live with DX winning cause it was an amazing match with a great entrance, Legacy were on the top of their game and will only get better working with DX. I am pleased Show and Y2J won and even pleased MVP beat Swagger although I would have liked a longer match. Kane vs Khali was surprisingly good especially the ending with the veteran outsmarting the rookie, using his emotions. But I will not be able for a long time to be able to understand the decision to make the ECW title match go down like that. Restart after restart, wow, i never knew Orton vs Cena could be this bad and yet... the match was restarted not once, not twice, not three times but four times. The fan, a plant? A nutjob? Since when could another official correct a mistake of another in the past the in ring official would have gone with his original decision. Likewise how did Lilian Garcia get news from Vince without a headset? When Freddie Prinze Jr was interviewed he implied that he was going to interfere on Cena's behalf to help him win but that was not to be. To be honest all I know is that after that awful match I don't want Cena Vs Orton at 'Breaking Point' I would rather Orton vs HBK or Orton vs MVP or perhaps even dare I say it Orton vs Santino Marella at 'Breaking Point'! TLC led to RIP. Jeff Hardy lost,can't say I am not happy cause I am ecstatic. I think this could also signal the end of Jeff Hardy's run in WWE despite Matt Hardy saying he was staying. Taker is the new World Heavyweight Championship number 1 contender and Punk is the champ. Hardy was almost stretchered out before the end of the match (kayfabe I assume) but a (kayfabe) injury could be just what WWE need to get him off screen and out of his contract. But it could just be away to get him and Matt working together again? Only time will tell. The match itself was good and the ending was amazing, the high impact climax balanced with the realistic fight for the belt, however this is become more and more over used in ladder matches and WWE need to be careful that they balance out the endings in ladder matches to keep things fresh. The big return was meant to be DX but on a personal level for me I am much more excited about the return of The Demon of Death Valley. This combined with the fact that two of my favorite wrestlers could enter into a feud! Taker Vs Punk. Hopefully Hell's Gate vs Anaconda Vice at 'Breaking Point'

As the title of the article suggests I am find WWE's programing a bit repetitive. The reunion of DX the third although funny and the future promises to be funny I can't help but feel that it is a case of been there done that. On top of that if this senario is anything like what WWE did with the Miz and Morrison, DX will probably beat Legacy as the dinosaurs beat the young guns. The main event picture is no better with Randy Orton taking on John Cena again. It feels stale. Also if we look at Cena's recent sparing partner The Miz he has been reduce to being banned from 'SummerFest' sorry 'SummerSlam' by some no name wally of a guest host. On top of that He took on the returning Eugene to get his title back. Mark Henry is now face, but not the sort of face that could be the new number one contender, just a joke in primary colour, why not put Eugene with Hornswoggle the perfect combo. Also two of the biggest heels in the company, one literally one not so. The Big Show and Y2J have been bundled together as tag champions at a time when Smackdown needs Jericho as CM Punk is the only top end heel. Also Big Show looks awful in primary colours and should only wear black because that suits his character. However it is not all bad, William Regal is now the ECW number 1 contender. Also the young guns of Swagger, Kofi, MVP, Shelton, Morrison, Ryder, Ziggler, Evan Bourne and Chris Masters are being given some time to shine. Mickie James is the new Divas Champion which is thoroughly deserved as she is one of the best divas in the company. So there is some light at the end of the tunnel. So at the momment I've got just one word for WWE, Repetative.

Tonight on the WWE 3-FOR-ALL

Tonight at 8/7 CT (1am BST), The 3-for-all, with 4 massive title matches from all 3 brands. From ECW, The New ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer goes up against former champ Christian, the "gold" on the line. From Smackdown, a Triple Threat for the World Heavyweight Championship, the new champ CM Punk defends against Jeff Hardy and Edge. The vacant WWE Championship will be put on the line in a Fatal-Four Way between the Big Show, John Cena, Randy Orton and the returning Triple H. Also, Chris Jericho will put his newly won Intercontinental Championship on the line against Rey Mysterio. With Former Raw GM Vickie Guerrero quitting last week Vince McMahon is back to announce Raw's new GM! And So make sure you tune in for 3 hours of WWE at its very best!

Master's Legacy?

If the rumours that Orton helped get Chris Masters his job back with WWE then perhaps he will be the fourth member of Legacy. But is he the only option and does he fit the bill? Well technically he is not a Second or a third generation. But could the rules be flouted so that Legacy could get the power house they need. the real question is who else is there? Perhaps the return of Brian Christopher AKA Grand Master Sexay, although that appears highly unlikely. Perhaps the Bizarre One Goldust could be reunited with his half brother Cody. Would WWE actually bring in Teddy Hart again and if they did would he be Legacy or New Hart foundation material? Would the Colons, sorry the Colóns became Legacy second tag team member, unlikely as Team Priceless are currently gunning for the tag titles. Now his aunt Vickie is leaving could Chavo revert back to being a serious Heel with Legacy. An interesting plot change could be The Big Show joining legacy as in his WCW days as The Giant he was billed as being Andre the Giant son. A unexpected and some what random twist could be Paul Bearer's Kayfabe son and The Undertaker's Half brother Kane could be the power house member of Legacy but don't hold your breath. So Legacy desperately need a power house in the Stable because their cunning not ignored Legacy are one man away from being the best.

Déjà PPVu - Latest Extreme Rules Card

Lets be honest, right now the WWE PPV summer schedule is in full swing, but this is a bit off-colour having the 1st five PPV matches that have been confirmed being a rerun of Judgement Day, just with stipulations. I understand that this is the way the WWE run their summer feuds, and maybe even with Cena-Show, the stipulation has a bit of sorry behind it, but it just seems too "same-ish" (and not in a good way). And then you add in that people like Cena and Mysterio apparently (story-line wise) want to move on from their Judgement Day opponents, but still get put back into those matches, it's too obvious because is there anyone else for Cena to go after whilst Randy Orton is locked in a Steel Cage. And what is a Samoan Strap Match, on Smackdown Friday night is just looked like a long and fat belt, it that it (and it was strange to here Umaga speak in his normal "American" voice, well he hardly going to have a strong Samoan accent, considering Dwanye "Not the Rock" Johnson is his cousin). FOLLOW-UP NOTE: I've been doing to research and I've found out that CM Punk hasn't been on a PPV card only 6 times since WrestleMania 23 (the point at which all WWE PPVs became Tri-branded) in 2007 (and on one of them, at Cyber Sunday 2008, he could have had a match and was also on the poster for the PPV). And between WrestleMania 23 and 24 he only missed Backlash 2007. At the worst PPV in WWE History, December to Dismember, CM Punk was in the Extreme Elimination Chamber after only being on WWE Programming for 5 Months, that after being in DX's Survivor Series team in 2006. WWE seem to have trust in him ever since he came to the company and now believe that he can become one of the biggest faces on Smackdown.

Massive Raw Main Event from The STAPLES Center and Vince ready to file Lawsuit?

The following is from WWE.com: Live on Raw from Los Angeles' STAPLES Center, WWE presents its answer to the Lakers vs. the Denver Nuggets. WWE Champion Randy Orton, Legacy, The Miz & Big Show face U.S. Champion MVP, Batista, John Cena, Jerry Lawler & a fifth "player."

WWE issued the following statement on their website announcing the Raw in Los Angeles for this Monday: STAMFORD, Conn. – World Wrestling Entertainment has made arrangements, given innumerable logistical challenges and obstacles, to move its internationally televised broadcast, WWE Monday Night Raw to Los Angeles' STAPLES Center. The live televised event, which was scheduled to take place at the Pepsi Center in Denver this Monday, May 25th, will take place live at the STAPLES Center at 5:30 p.m. PT. Tickets for Monday Night Raw in Los Angeles will become available tonight at 8 p.m. ET. WWE was forced to seek alternative arrangements due to the Pepsi Center's double-booking of May 25 for both WWE Monday Night Raw and Game 4 of the NBA Western Conference Finals. The event will now take place live from the home of the Denver Nuggets' opponents, the Los Angeles Lakers. Denver fans wishing to receive a refund for their tickets to the originally scheduled Pepsi Center event must return tickets to the original point of purchase. Vince McMahon spoke to 9News and once again seems to be considering legal action against Denver Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke. McMahon said: "It's really unfortunate because if he were just a regular business man and picked up the phone and said, 'Vince, you know, we're throwing you out but I want to make it right, what can we do?' I never heard from Kroenke, I don't know if anyone else has either, by the way, he's somewhat of a Howard Hughes guy I understand. I think our company has been damaged severely from a financial standpoint and from a psychological standpoint as well. You don't treat people the way Kroenke's management treated us. I'm not a litigious kind of guy, but quite frankly when we have a contract and we have over 10,000 tickets sold and you just say: we're out, and we're not going to do anything for you, you know we're not going to make any restitution. We may pay for your additional expenses, that's it. There could very well be a lawsuit down the road." In related news, TMZ.com has picked up the news that Raw is moving to Los Angeles and writes, "Vince isn't moving out of the kindness of his heart, he and the Nuggets struck a settlement -- but the terms of that deal haven't been made public yet."

Raw Main Event Matches Set for Extreme Rules

Two Matches were made yesterday night on Raw. The WWE Championship will be on the line in a steel cage, will Orton be able to keep the Animal caged and retain his title or will Batista give the champion his just desserts.

Also at Extreme Rules, John Cena will face the Big Show against in a submission match. Will Cena be able to lock in the STF and make it 2-0 or will the Big Show use his new submission hold to put Cena out for good.

Judgement Day 2009: John Cena vs Big Show

For months, John Cena and Big Show have been on a collision course, interfering in each other’s matches and costing one another championships and title opportunities. Now, the two Superstars will wage an all-out war at Judgment Day, in a confrontation that will no doubt prove to be as vicious as their rivalry has been. The roots of this enmity can be traced back to the weeks leading up to the 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania. Originally, Big Show was set to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Edge one-on-one for his title on The Grandest Stage of them All. That was until John Cena turned the bout into a Triple Threat Match after threatening to reveal General Manger Vickie Guerrero’s secret affair with the 7-footer. In the title match, Cena capitalized on his opportunity, delivering an Attitude Adjustment to Big Show and Edge at the same time before pinning the giant to win the World Heavyweight Championship. This turn of events didn't sit well with The World’s Largest Athlete, and he made his anger known at Backlash when he interjected himself into The Champ’s Last Man Standing Match against Edge. Just when it appeared that Cena would put The Rated-R Superstar away for good, Big Show stomped out and brutally chokeslammed Cena through a 7,000-watt searchlight. The ruthless attack cost Cena the match and the World Heavyweight Title, which Edge brought back with him to SmackDown. The following Monday on Raw, Cena got some payback during Big Show and Batista’s No. 1 Contender’s Match for Randy Orton’s WWE Championship. Despite internal injuries suffered by the giant’s ruthless assault the previous night, Cena staggered onto the stage and lured the behemoth out of the ring, resulting in a count-out loss for the big man and a WWE Title opportunity for The Animal at Judgment Day. The short-tempered 485-pounder, enraged more than ever by the defeat, told Vickie Guerrero that he wants to end Cena's career. Although Cena has not yet been cleared to compete, Guerrero assured the colossus he will have his opportunity at Judgment Day.

On the forth ever edition of WWE Superstars there will be one of the big mis-matches in WWE History, When Hornswoggle faces the Big Show. Click to see the Tale of the Tape. Strangely with this only being the 4th episode of WWE Superstars, this is the 3rd time Hornswoggle would have made an appearance on the show and the Big Show's Second.

Also on this edition of WWE Superstars, The Gold Standard Shelton Benjamin will face the current Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio, what will happen between two of Smackdown's best Superstars, just 3 days before Rey defends his Championship against Chris Jericho at Judgement Day.

And Finally on this Episode of WWE Superstars, the ECW Champion will have his hands full with "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry, with his title defense to Jack Swagger only 3 days away, Expect Everything.
