This Day in Wrestling History - September 10th

On this day in 2001, Charles Ingram cheated his way to winning one million pounds on a British version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Also in 1972, The United States loss its first international basketball game in a disputed match against the Soviet Union at Munich, Germany. And all the way back in 954, King Louis IV of France died. But September 10th has been a day for Wrestling comings and going.
2007: On today's episode of Monday Night Raw, at the height of the McMahon bastard son storyline, the World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali was visiting from SmackDown claiming to be "that bastard", but after Intercontinental Champion Jeff Hardy came out and showed his delight at not being Vince's illegitimate son, he got stuck in a match with the Punjabi Nightmare and suffered at the hands of the Khali Vice Grip. And Khali's challenger later that week at Unforgiven, Batista, made the save after a destroyed Hardy could have got more than he bargained for. This was also the night that Hornswoggle was announced as Vince's son!
1997: Jack Barton Adkisson aka Fritz Von Erich died today at the age of 68, he is better known as a wrestling promoter and the patriarch of the Von Erich wrestling family. He was also the owner of the World Class Championship Wrestling territory. At this year's Hall of Fame Ceremony, he was inducted alongside the rest of his family. In competition he was a One-time AWA World Heavyweight Champion and sixteen-time NWA American Heavyweight Champion.
1981: Bonnie Maxon who is best known for her 2 year run in TNA under the ring name Rain or Payton Banks, was born today.
1980: William Theodore Mueller aka Trevor Murdoch was born today. He's best known for his run in WWE with Lance Cade, where they were 3 time World Tag Team Champions. Later on, Cade turned on Murdoch to join Chris Jericho, when Murdoch started to country sing and be very suggestively gay, not his best moment.
1976: "The Blueprint" Matt Morgan, who is now known for his run in TNA since 2007, and in WWE (in and out of OVW & Smackdown) for 3 years, was born today. He is really hitting the big time in TNA now, but I think that the highest achievements he reached in WWE was being in Brock Lesnar's Survivor Series Team in 2003 and being in the Royal Rumble in 2004, they never did think very high of him.
1950: John Anthony Wisniski Jr. aka Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, the son of Johnny Valentine, was born today. As well as being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2004, Valentine was a multi-time Tag Team Champion with the likes of Ric Flair, Bill Watts, Jim Neidhart and Don Fargo to name a few, he is also has held a number of AWA/NWA Heavyweight Championship in territories all over North America.
